Hey Jordan Fraser, normally I don’t comment on Medium Writing articles, but today I broke the rules because I think you are a new writer on Medium. I just want you to know that I’ve been where you are. When you are new, many writers will inflate their claps with a community of writers, friends, and even fake other profiles. I did too. The thing is it will fade. Once you get above 1000 followers, if you don’t write well, it’s the end of the road. Above 1000 followers, you have to seriously up your game or people just simply won’t read your articles.

So, the first 6 months is admittedly rough. Looking back I have to say that not having any immediate payoff like some other writers did helped me in a big way. I was motivated to learn how to write well because I was simply “pissed off”.

So, Jordan, you are a good writer. I’ve read some of your articles. Now go and do your thing. Your fans will come in their natural time. But, they will be consistent and true fans. That beats any gimmick!
