I think a lot of the women are promoted. Then because of nontechnical background feeds the stereotype of women being non-technical. There are plenty of female leaders in technology companies who are hard core technologists. They don’t get the spotlight. And unfortunately, they don’t often want to pursue management positions. The reason is because we simply need more women with diverse skillsets working in technology. This means that a female technologist needs to have mentorship to go beyond engineering. This also means that a female marketer can pursue advanced computer science degrees and learn to code. The road is not that much different for male and female technologists. There just has to be less barriers for women and other minorities.
