Shannon Ashley, it’s stress. The stress of my son’s eating issues also made me put on a lot of weight by simply eating all his food that he would leave on his plate. I had to eat it all to feel okay because I made it. It was a compulsive reaction to the “helplessness” I felt because my son simply would not eat what I cooked. I’m not saying that binge eating is okay. But, it’s a very emotional disease. I believe some cognitive behavior therapy may help. If anything, I think a lot of mothers deal with stress of motherhood with binge eating. It’s just they “work out” more, so it doesn’t show as much.
