Here are a few of my thoughts.
There's this organic way of change. Like water, in Taoism, it seems like it's yielding around structures, but actually, it surrounds structures and give it shape. It is liken the way that you describe, releasing control, delegate with clear directions, and then trust that people will meet you half way. This works on the premise that there's mutual respect in the relationship.
So, how to trust the world of change, when you can't see what's coming? It is to essentially trust that "you" have the power to meet it half way at any point in the time horizon. The key I've found lately is really to not "judge yourself". At any point, it's critical to respect where you are and how you are meeting challenges, but to improve incrementally through reflections.
So, when the world of politics makes you feel sad about the state of affairs right now. Simply try to adapt and meet it where it is. Live as though you are living in a better world. That's all any of us can do.
