Yes I was blessed in a way to have stayed inside the system and completed everything on time and worked the system to get jobs etc.. to be successful in my career. But, I had a narcissistic upbringing as well. I also had abuse I had to deal with. But, I blocked all of that out while I embarked on my career. It was painful and ultimately I had to take a break to recover. But, I think what you are doing, is not late at all. 26 is so young, you don’t realize it when you are in it. When you are 40, the fact that you started your career in your 20s or your 30s will not matter much. I hope you complete your studies, no matter if you take a year off or not. But, I believe that neurodiverse people (AdHD, autism, etc..) often find college fulfilling, so I think in the end if you persist, you will find what you enjoy doing. That will give you stability, wealth and mental health, amongst other things in life.
